Katie Wynn is a Ph.D. student in the history department. Katie studies gender and culture in modern Britain under the guidance of Professor Chernock. Katie hopes to expand her research interests to explore political culture in the late Victorian and Edwardian eras. To learn more about Wynn’s research and publications, visit her webpage.
In Spring 2024, Katie received a CISS Summer mini-grant to travel to archives in the UK where she will conduct research for her current project examining the Independent Labour Party (ILP) during the Boer War. Specifically, she is investigating the ILP’s concerns about disinformation and the quality of democracy in Britain at the turn of the century amidst the proliferation of sensationalist, profit-motivated print news.
