Emerging Higher Education Scholars Symposium

Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development is hosting emerging scholars for a research (empirical/conceptual) presentation and panel that focuses discussion on the symposium “Banned! Scholars from States Where DEI is Under Assault.” Presentations and panel hosted by BU Wheelock’s Higher Education Administration Program and Educational Leadership & Policy Studies Department. The symposium is cosponsored by the BU Wheelock Dean’s Office and the Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground. Presentations will bring together emerging scholars and a senior scholar discussant to: Examine the current discourse surrounding DEI in higher education contexts Discuss how scholars in states hostile to DEI navigate restrictive environments Articulate implications for the future of DEI in higher education within our shifting political landscape Presentations will be a part of a three-hour symposium and luncheon showcasing the work of emerging scholars, who will present their research as a conference-style talk for 15-20 minutes, followed by a panel discussion facilitated by a Boston University senior scholar - Dr. Raul Fernandez.
