Urban Refuge Reunion: Alumni & Student Panel and Reception

  • Starts: 4:00 pm on Tuesday, November 19, 2024
  • Ends: 5:30 pm on Tuesday, November 19, 2024
The Urban Refuge Project began as a collaborative initiative in the IR 500 Forced Migration and Human Trafficking course, uniting students from diverse academic backgrounds to develop practical responses to the refugee crisis. A key output of the project is the Urban Refuge app, a geolocation tool mapping clinics, schools, and aid distribution points in Jordan, providing essential information to refugees navigating urban spaces. This event will bring together alumni from the 2016 cohort, who will reflect on their role in the project’s development, discuss its challenges, and offer insights to support current students working to expand and refine the initiative. We will explore the project’s inception, growing pains, and ongoing efforts to adapt to the complexities of forced migration and displacement in urban settings. This is an opportunity to engage with students past and present as they discuss the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing both current and future refugee crises.
