CISS Invites Applications for Grant Proposal Consultancies
The Center for Innovation in Social Science (CISS) is pleased to announce its call for proposals for Grant Proposal Consultancies (Maximum: $1,000). Faculty, full-time lecturers, and postdocs may use funds to provide honoraria for an expert(s) to provide feedback on a new or revised grant proposal for external funding. Consultants must be substantive or methodological experts; funds cannot be used to support editorial assistance. The funds may be used to provide honoraria or a campus visit by one or more external reviewers, to help applicants prepare a grant application for external funding. Consultants are expected to read and provide detailed feedback on the proposal, and will be provided the honoraria. Awards will be made on a rolling basis, until funds are no longer available. Applications may be submitted at any time, but all funds must be used by June 1, 2026. No extensions are possible.
Applicants should submit: (1) a CV; (2) a one-page summary of their research project or specific aims; and (3) a list of the federal agencies or foundations where they will submit the final grant proposal, including target submission date and funding program name or number. If the funds are requested for consultancy on a revised proposal previously submitted for external funding, the summary should include a brief report on the review history and outcome.
Funded applicants must provide a report to CISS by June 30, 2026 describing the outcomes of their work, and will notify CISS about the status of their submitted external proposal when that information becomes available.
Please submit materials to Shannon Landis, CISS administrator (ciss@bu.edu). Questions can be directed to Deborah Carr, CISS director (carrds@bu.edu).
