CISS Names 2025 Summer Writing Internship Program (SWIP) Interns
The Center for Innovation in Social Science (CISS) is collaborating with the Writing in the Disciplines (WID) program for the second year of the Social Science Summer Writing Internship Program (SWIP). Supported by the Psalm 103 Foundation and College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Advisory Board member Jennifer Simpson (CAS’00), SWIP provides hands-on writing experience and a weekly seminar for undergraduates eager to hone their skills in social science writing. Students earn a $2,500 stipend for their participation.
The ten-week internship will run from June through August 2025. Each intern will be placed at a social science research institute on campus including: Center for Innovation in Social Science (CISS), the Center on Forced Displacement (CFD), and the Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS), where they will work on center-focused writing projects, in addition to attending a weekly writing workshop led by Dr. Stephen Hodin, SWIP Coordinator and Writing Program Senior Lecturer. At the workshop, they will also develop their own personal academic projects such as senior theses. The program co-directors are Deborah Carr, CISS director and WID director David Shawn, and CISS administrator Shannon Landis manages program recruitment and events. Congratulations to this year’s interns!
