Purchasing and Putting Items on Reserve for Students

If there is a book or other resource you would like us to acquire at BU, you are welcome to email Lucy directly or complete this form. If you have a request related to making materials accessible on Blackboard for your course, please complete this form.

Appointments

You and all students are welcome to reach out or make an appointment at any time. For faculty, this sometimes looks like purchasing relevant texts, supporting with research initiatives, or finding open-access resources for your syllabi. She can also support with finding data sets for your own research purposes. For students, this can look like one-on-one support with crafting keywords, finding resources, or building up our skills in research together.

Guides

Across disciplines, BU Library offers online library guides across disciplines to support students, instructors, and researchers connect to relevant information. These guides are intended to provide connection to resources relating to specific topics. This is not intended to mirror syllabi or course readings, but offer informative perspective on conversations, theories, and voices. Additionally, these guides are meant to build skills in research and connection to both BU library resources and external content (exhibits, blogs, podcasts, government reports, etc.) that live beyond our collections.  Some examples of these guides across disciplines are available for topics like  LGBTQIA individuals and communities, food justice,  code-switching and much more. A guide for new and returning faculty is available here covering course reserves, scanning requests, Blackboard, bibliometrics, and more.  If you feel like your class or students would benefit from a page or entire guide dedicated to a specific subject or course you are teaching, please feel free to contact me directly (LFlamm@BU.edu) and we can discuss next steps. For instance, see this recent resource she created for Professor Heather Schoenfeld‘s Political Sociology course.

New York Times Access

BU Libraries has just acquired institutional access to the New York Times. This means you and all students now have free access to this resource. Directions are available online here.
