CISS Hosts Fall 2024 Drop-In Writing Groups

Are you looking for a quiet place to write? A community with whom to brainstorm about nascent research ideas? Bring your laptop and grab a seat in the CISS conference room to get some writing done. The quiet well-lit are provides a space for dedicated writing time with peers.  In the Fall ’24 semester, writing sessions will be held on Tuesday mornings from 9:30-11:30 am in the CISS 5th floor conference room (704 Commonwealth Ave).  Wade Campbell (CISS affiliate and CAS/Archaeology and Anthropology) is coordinator. If you would like to host a drop-in writing group during a different time slot, please reach out to CISS administrator Shannon Landis (ciss@bu.edu).

Participants in 2023-24 and summer 2024 writing groups benefited from having scheduled writing time. Organizer Wade Campbell noted that “going to the CISS Writing Group broke up the monotony of the office and played key role in helping me complete my contribution to a big NSF grant app this fall. I also enjoyed meeting folks from other programs and departments!”  Ana Barun (GRS, Anthropology and CISS graduate affiliate) noted “I joined the CISS writing group for a consistent and focused period for my writing, specifically to advance my grant applications and progress in my dissertation research/writing. The structured writing sessions provided by the group offer a dedicated, focused time for consistent effort on long-term projects. I look forward to joining again in the [Fall]”

We hope to see you at an upcoming writing session!
