The Science Philanthropy Alliance Annouces “The Audacious Project”, Webinar Scheduled for March 19
The Science Philanthropy Alliance is pleased to share new opportunities and resources for our research community. We heard about the importance of this at our virtual research institutions meeting last year, when research institutions told us that they needed a better understanding of philanthropic funder priorities and a clear access point for opportunities. Similarly, funders have shared with us that they seek to expand their reach.
Our informative and productive conversations enabled us to share resources both then and now in service of our mission to advance scientific discovery through visionary philanthropy. Learn more below.
Funding information session: think big with the Audacious Project!

The Audacious Project is looking for game-changing ideas for breakthrough science. They are delighted to invite you to a webinar that provides insight into the Audacious Project’s process, criteria for selection, and past successful ideas to help you prepare for submitting your idea before the April 15, 2024, deadline. They will also have time for questions if you need more information and are considering applying.
The Audacious Project is prioritizing expanding the breadth of science applications they receive, and we encourage the scientific research community to engage and think big.

Community resource
The Alliance has created a new hub on our website for researchers and research institutions that highlights how the research community can engage with the Alliance to expand the reach and impact of philanthropy for science. We feature two new resources: an aggregated funding calls page that shares a variety of high-quality repositories and a member priorities page, which shares the areas of interest, approaches, and funding opportunities from several of our member organizations.
Areas of opportunity
When deciding which areas to support, funders often ask, “How do we stay at the cutting edge of science being developed?” and “Where is funding needed most?” In a recent report, Alliance external science advisors identify where there are opportunities and gaps in science philanthropy for both funders and researchers to target.
Subscribe to the Alliance newsletter to hear about opportunities, resources, and member news. We are always interested to hear about the priorities of our research community at researchinstitutions@sciphil.org.
