CISS and CAS Seek Undergraduate Summer Communications Intern Focused on Social Sciences
The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Communications office, in partnership with the Center for Innovation in Social Sciences (CISS), is hiring a summer communications intern to: help promote the research and expertise of social sciences faculty, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows; tell stories of student experiences in social sciences classes, clubs, and internships; showcase the value of studying the social sciences; and build community within our diverse liberal arts school. The undergraduate intern will be part of a team covering the four CAS divisions (humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, or mathematical & computational sciences), and will assist with other communications projects, as needed, including social media and website. A successful applicant will:
- Be a strong writer who is capable of conducting independent research.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Possess the ability to effectively communicate with faculty in order to develop stories.
- Have media experience (highly desired but not a requirement).
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and a capacity to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate a background (or strong interest) in social sciences.
- Experience with WordPress (or an interest in learning).
The position will take place for an eight-week period during Summer 2024 (approximately June 1 through July 31, 2024). The intern will work for 20 hours per week, for a total stipend of $5,000. The position is on-site, so all interns must be located in the Boston area during the position term. This position is open to BU undergraduates only. Preference will be given to CAS students who are majoring or minoring in a social science field.
