CISS Partners with CTSI to Track BU Social Scientists’ Policy Impact
CISS is fortunate to partner with BU’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) in the use of the Overton database, a platform which can be used to measure scholars’ policy impact. Overton is the world’s largest searchable index of policy documents, guidelines, think tank publications and working papers. It collects data from 188 countries and over a thousand sources worldwide. The tool allows researchers to document the policy organizations and documents that cite their work, as well as the geographic distribution of these cites.
CISS affiliates who would like a summary report of their impact can submit a request at this Jotform.
The statistics generated by Overton provide an alternative indicator of faculty members’ research impact, beyond citation counts in peer-reviewed journals. CISS has previously recognized the more than three dozen BU social scientists who are ranked in the top 2% of all highly-cited scholars worldwide, according to a Stanford University report.
