CISS Launches Co-Curricular on Social Science Research Fundamentals

CISS is pleased to announce the Fall 2023 launch of a new non-credit course focused on social science research fundamentals. This year-long HUB co-curricular will bring together CISS undergraduate research interns and other undergraduates doing independent or mentored research projects for a structured overview of research practices, professional development sessions, and discussion of the students’ own research. HUB CC290/291 (Cocurricular: Social Science Research Fundamentals) will meet on alternating Tuesdays from 3:30-4:45 pm in the 5th floor conference room at CISS (704 Commonwealth Ave). The course fulfills the HUB Research and Information Literacy requirement. The course course syllabus is available here.

The course, coordinated by CISS director and sociology professor Deborah Carr, will bring in experts from BU to guide student in activities like carrying out literature reviews, interpreting statistical data, time management, science communication and more.

Students interested in participating should contact carrds@bu.edu.
