BU Undergraduates Launch New Social Science Journal
A team of Boston University social science undergraduates have launched a new academic journal, dedicated to sharing the work of social science undergraduate and graduate students. Armchair seeks to foster a community of undergraduate and graduate scholars interested in social science research and inquiry and to promote intellectual engagement and dialogue among students in the Boston area and beyond. The journal has issued its first call for submissions, with a deadline of August 15, 2023. The submission link includes further information on how to submit, including the journal’s style guide. The first issue is slated to debut in November 2023.
The editorial team includes Lenny Adonteng (CAS ’24, Sociology), Lily Belisle (CAS ’24, Sociology and WGS; CISS communications manager), Elizabeth Kostina (CAS ’24, Sociology and Architectural Studies), An Pham (CAS ’24, Economics and Mathematics), and Junchu (Candy) Wu (CAS ’24, sociology and pre-law). assisted by sociology undergraduate academic advisor Marcus Shaw.
Each of the editorial team members also plays a specific role in the journal’s development. Lenny Adonteng is first reviewer, Lily Belisle is events coordinator, Elizabeth Kostina is the journal’s design director, An Pham serves as treasurer, and Candy Wu holds the position of social media/marketing director.
The team invites submissions from any students currently enrolled in sociology or related social science fields such as anthropology, political science, urban studies, and history. Contributions on a range of topics are accepted. All papers will be subject to a standard peer-review process where submissions are anonymously reviewed and evaluated by Armchair’s board of reviewers.
