CAS Seeks Faculty Fellows for Society of Fellows Postdoctoral Program, Applications Due April 22

The College of Arts and Sciences is pleased to announce the formation of the inaugural cohort of Postdoctoral Scholars for the new Society of Fellows.  Details will follow shortly with biographical information on the postdoctoral fellows. The five selected scholars are exceptional candidates who reflect the Society’s focus on outstanding scholarship, interdisciplinarity, commitment to diversity, and demonstrated interest in engaging in the Society. The Fellows represent the departments/programs of Anthropology, Archaeology, Classical Studies, History of Art & Architecture, and Religion.

CAS now invites applications of faculty members to serve as Faculty Fellows. Faculty Fellows will be an integral component of the new Society. They will:

  • Serve as leaders and spokespersons for the Society of Fellows
  • Guide the development of programming for the Postdoctoral Scholars
  • Support mentors and their engagement with Postdoctoral Scholars
  • Facilitate and encourage interdisciplinary connections

CAS intends for there to be ten Faculty Fellows. The five faculty who have agreed to serve as Lead Mentors working with the five Postdoctoral Scholars are de facto Faculty Fellows; therefore, CAS now welcomes nominations for five more Faculty Fellows. The Faculty Fellows will convene as a group approximately two times per semester (plus 1-2 meetings prior to the start of the semester) and they are expected to actively participate in Society events and activities. The term of service is for two years and comes with a $2,000/year stipend. Tenured and tenure-track faculty are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to those who have a focus on interdisciplinarity and supporting junior scholars. Applications and nominations should be submitted to Rachel Daigle (sofcas@bu.edu) by April 22, 2022. Applicants should indicate: why you are interested in being Fellow and why you believe you would be a good Fellow. If you are nominating someone, please indicate why you think they would be a good Fellow, and CAS will follow up to ask them to apply.
