PBS Hosts Khodadad Distinguished Lecture on Greed and Human Suffering
The department of Psychological and Brain Sciences will host its annual Khodadad Distinguished Lecture on Greed and Human Suffering on April 29 from 10-11:45 a.m. in the Trustees Center, 1 Silber Way. Fiery Cushman, Professor of Psychology at Harvard University, will discuss “The Possibility of Violence.” Dr Cushman’s lecture will discuss the implications for why violence occurs, why it sometimes doesn’t, and how we can prevent it. The lecture will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by BU faculty members Luke Glowacki (Anthropology), Saida Grundy (Sociology and African-American Studies), and Nicholas Wagner (PBS).
Dr. Cushman directs the Moral Psychology Research Laboratory at Harvard. His research awards include the Stanton Prize by the Society for Philosophy and Psychology and the Daniel M. Wegner Theoretical Innovation Prize by the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. His teaching awards include the Henry Merrit Wriston Fellowship, Brown University’s highest recognition for pre-tenure faculty. His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the Office of Naval Research, and the John Templeton Foundation.
