Gus Wheeler

Technical Associate, Sculpture & Painting

Gus Wheeler is the Technical Associate for Sculpture & Painting for the School of Visual Arts. Gus grew up in New York City and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Vassar College in 2013, where he majored in Studio Art and Mathematics. He received his Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting from Boston University in 2019. 

Gus has a wide range of art-world experience he brings to the School of Visual Arts. He’s worked for galleries in Chelsea, as an Art Handler – most recently at the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston, as a studio assistant, and is an Adjunct Professor teaching Printmaking and Drawing at BU.

In addition to cultivating his personal art practice, he has been included in exhibitions in New York City, Boston, and elsewhere. He has participated in residencies at the Chautauqua School and Anderson Ranch. He co-curated Pardon Our Appearance at the Main Gallery of the University of Rhode Island.
