Madeline K. Durso named Student Speaker for 2019 CFA Convocation
Senior Madeline K. Durso (CFA’19) has been selected to address her peers as the student speaker at CFA Convocation. Madeline is graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting as well as triple Minor in Arts Leadership, Printmaking, and Art History.
During her time at the College of Fine Arts, Maddie has co-curated her own gallery show titled “In Flux,” served on the CFA Dean’s Council, and was as a CFA peer mentor and tour guide.
She completed her Arts Leadership minor abroad in Australia while working at an arts community center in Sydney. She has also interned at art galleries in Boston and New York City and worked as a curatorial intern at the Harvard Club of New York City. Check out some of her work at artbymkd.com.
“Maddie Durso has the rare ability to integrate inventiveness and vision with close attention to the world around her,” says Dana Clancy, School of Visual Arts Director. “Her impressive large-scale abstract paintings grew from observations of flowers, and her CFA convocation speech grew from quotations that she gathered from professors. Both show Maddie’s great commitment, dedication and sense of potential in the everyday. Her own growth over her four years at CFA is inspiring.”
