Lisa Zhou holds a BFA in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts and has completed her graduate studies in Arts Administration at Boston University. Her background bridges studio art, museum education, and arts management.

Growing up in Shanghai and later studying in New York, she developed a cross-cultural perspective on visual storytelling. Her work focuses on watercolor illustration, including children’s and narrative-based projects, while also exploring themes related to the body and health. Her project Period Rabbit combines storytelling and health education to address often overlooked topics.

She has experience in art studios, advertising, and museum settings, including contributing to public programs at the Shanghai Museum. She also completed a Scenics and Props internship at Liars and Believers in Boston, where she worked on the production The End is Nigh.

Lisa is interested in curation, education, and cross-cultural exhibition practices. She will continue her studies at Columbia University in Art and Art Education.

The Arts Administration program at Boston University helped me better understand how arts organizations operate in practice. Through coursework and my internship, I gained experience in collaboration and project-based work in nonprofit settings.

I especially valued how the program helped me connect creative practice with organizational structures. It allowed me to see how artistic ideas are developed, supported, and presented within institutions.

This experience helped me clarify my interests in curation and art education and prepared me for my future studies.
