Zhuldyz Datka (’19)
Zhuldyz was born and raised in Turkestan, a historical and cultural city of Kazakhstan. She graduated with a BA in Culture Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. During her studies there, Zhuldyz worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Philosophy and Politics. The research area focused on the role of spiritual heritage and intercultural dialogue in the formation of the national idea of Kazakhstan. In addition to studying, she worked in two well-known museums: Kunaev House Museum and Center State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan as an Administrative Assistant.
Having worked in two museums and done research about the arts, I realized that I needed to study Art Administration in order to fully understand art organization’s functioning structures and budgets. I won the presidential scholarship, Bolashak, to achieve my dream, which is to create nonprofit art organization in USA and as well as in Kazakhstan. I currently take Fundraising Nonprofit Organizations, Financial Management, and the Art World within the graduate program to realize my dream.
