Wenqian Chen (’21)
Since early childhood, Wenqian possessed a distinctive sense of music and a keen passion for art, including painting and singing. Upon high school graduation, she successfully gained admission to the Wuhan Conservatory of Music, where she received four years of professional training in Music Performance(Zither).
In addition to enhancing Wenqian’s skills through professional training and stage performances, she developed a keen interest in art management. The idea of contributing to the world of art in the capacity of a manager motivates Wenqian. She believes, the skills an organizer has a direct impact on the overall artistic effect of a concert or a show as well as the audience experience. For her, engaging in the field of art management is not only the way to realize her true self-value, but also helps her create social value since art will continue serving as the source of spirit for modern people.
Through my studies in the Boston University Arts Administration program, I can get a more systematic understanding of how today’s art institutions work and where they need to be improved. And students with different artistic backgrounds can learn from each other, which helps me to broaden my horizons. International travel courses allow me to communicate with world-renowned cultural leaders, museums, art organizations and artists, which will enable me to make progress and become a qualified art administrator, contributing my own meager strength to the art industry
