Qi Gong (’16)

Qi Gong is a promising and active Chinese zither performing artist and recently graduated from the Arts Administration degree program at Boston University. She received her BA and master’s at the China Conservatory of Music.

Since childhood, Qi has won many awards, including the seventh Chinese Golden Bell Award—the highest award for Chinese musicians—and participated in various concerts and festivals. She is devoted to developing international and cross-cultural communications through arts and education.

Of her many Chinese zither recitals in Beijing, her most memorable one came in 2011, when she played to ambassadors at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China for a welcoming dinner party that she organized. Collaborating with Indiana University’s Sacabuche Ensemble and the University of Minnesota’s department of history, Qi has participated in the multimedia “Matteo Ricci: His Map and Music” project since 2010, and has also played the National Center of Performing Arts in China, Renmin University, and the eighth International Convention of Asian Scholars (ICAS8), as an essential and indispensable member.

“The Arts Administration program provides us with a great opportunity to receive a systematic education of arts management, allowing us to combine the professional skills with the experiences of performance. In the Arts Administration program, we are encouraged to look at, and think of, the arts industry from a higher perspective.”
