Alumni Spotlight Interview

Melissa Riesgo is a native of mid-coast Maine who came to Boston for her undergraduate and graduate degree at Boston University. Trained as a classical flutist, she graduated with a BA in both music and Italian studies. A lifelong lover of the performing arts, Melissa naturally found her way to BU’s Arts Administration program, where she recently graduated. She joined the staff at BU’s School of Music in 2014, and enjoys working in the eclectic, creative, and inspiring atmosphere of College of Fine Arts.

Outside of work, Melissa serves on the student advisory board of the BU Arts Initiative, is a frequent volunteer with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and a dedicated member of the Trinity Choir at Trinity Church Boston. Melissa recently joined the staff of the Boston-based women’s vocal ensemble Lorelei as their marketing and communications manager. In her free time, Melissa is an avid runner who loves cooking, traveling, and anything to do with Italy.

“My interest in the arts has always been very broad, and I have found it challenging to focus on one discipline. I feel so fortunate to have found a program that allows me to grow professionally while nourishing my artistic desires. This program has allowed me to be an integral part of the art world, and given me the tools to make a difference.”
