Marie-Alix Thomas is a french student who graduated from Boston University’s Graduate Certificate in Arts Administration. She holds both a Master’s degree in Management in Cultural Institutions from Audencia Business School, Nantes (FR) and a Bachelor’s degree in Art History from Nantes University. Cultivating her interest in art and collections, Marie-Alix has volunteered and interned at Ader Nordmann and Christie’s auction houses in Paris, Artistic Student Association in Nantes, TEFAF Art Fair in Maastricht, the Hermitage State Museum in Saint-Petersburg, and La Patinoire Royale (gallery) in Brussels. Fascinated by the role of an art collector, Marie-Alix hopes to take part in the art market and someday be found in the Young Collectors Club spreading worldwide. Through the Graduate Certificate in Arts Administration, Marie-Alix looks forward to expanding her expertise of the art world and fine arts market.

On my very first class in the Arts Administration Program, Political and Public Advocacy, our professor stated, “you are all artists.” It was this little affirmation that highlighted my reason for pursuing the Arts Administration Graduate Certificate here at Boston University. I believe the program will provide me with not only practical and relevant courses, but also allow me to meet other art enthusiasts who are ready to make the world a better place through creativity and “the power of culture” (Massachusetts Cultural Council).
