Jim (MET ’16) currently serves as the Asst. Dean for Alumni Affairs and Career Advancement at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of public health where he draws upon his wealth of experience in both alumni relations and public health advocacy to shape, expand, and lead the School’s efforts to engage our alumni in all areas of the life and mission of the school. Jim came to Harvard Chan from his role as Director of Alumni Relations at Massachusetts College of Art and Design from 2000 – 2006, where he successfully developed and implemented an ambitious multi-year plan to strengthen ties between the college and its graduates.

Prior to his work at MassArt, Jim and his partner Rob Clifford co-owned and operated Clifford-Smith Gallery from 1998 – 2005, exhibiting emerging and mid-career contemporary artists working in all mediums. Jim has served as member of the Council for Pine Street Inn, Boston’s largest provider of shelter and permanent supportive housing for homeless and formerly-homeless men and women and is a past co-chair of the national Alumni Affairs and Development Council of the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health.
