Cory Shea (’16)
Since 2011 Shea has been the Assistant Director of the Cambridge Art Association (CAA). Within this position Shea manages the day-to-day tasks of a non-profit visual arts organization. CAA includes 450 plus members and produces over 25 gallery shows a year at the Kathryn Schultz Gallery, University Place Gallery as well as satellite locations.
In January of 2016 Shea coordinated CAA’s first ever ‘age’ show, bringing together New England artists ages 18-30 open in all media. The exhibition was juried by Mary Tinti Curator at the Fitchburg Art Museum. The exhibition was featured in Artscope’s January/February 2016 issue with the article titled, “A New Generation at CAA.”
Beyond the Cambridge Art Association Shea co-curated two exhibitions at the Nave Gallery, Somerville Massachusetts, in November and December 2015 for emerging female artists. Reclamation I and Reclamation II.
“When I first graduated from Umass Amherst (in 2009) with a BFA in digital imaging I wasn’t sure where my career would take me – BU has made me realize my focus and has guided me in moving forward as a visual art administrator. I can’t wait to see where I’ll go from here.”
