A California native and graduate of Boston University Arts Administration Master’s Program, Cilicia originally ventured to the east coast for undergraduate study at Boston University. With an academic focus in Public Relations and International Relations, she graduated with a B.S. in Communication from the Boston University College of Communication in 2015.

In her time in undergrad at BU, Cilicia pursued her interest in serving the community and passion for performing arts through active involvement in student theatre and community service organizations. She was able to cultivate those relationships through internship opportunities in the non-profit sector and eventually traveled abroad to London where she served as the Public Relations Intern at the English National Ballet.

Upon graduation, Cilicia began her career in communications at BU. In her current role as Marketing and Communications Coordinator at Boston University School of Social Work, Cilicia works in event management and develops content and strategy for social media and web and print-based communications for the School.

With Cilicia’s love for the arts rooted in her experience in theatre production, she is interested in being a storyteller. She hopes to leverage her personal and professional experience in her career as an arts administrator for the advocacy and advancement of arts education and policy.

When considering graduate study, I was looking for an interdisciplinary program at the intersection of my academic training, professional experience, and passion for the arts. The Arts Administration program at Boston University offers an exciting opportunity for me to learn concrete skills from passionate professionals, expand my network, and gain hands-on experience. As I begin my career in arts administration, these assets provide a unique advantage to really become an expert, innovator, and leader in the field with the ability to affect change in the world through the arts.
