Guest Speaker: Feier Ying

The Arts Administration program is proud to welcome Feier Ying as a guest speaker in the Writing for the Arts class. She currently works as a curatorial research associate for the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She focuses mainly on Chinese painting and calligraphy. Ying has also worked as an editor and freelance writer for The Art Newspaper (Chinese Version), ArtNet, and other international art medium publishing exhibition reviews, art reports, interview articles, and other artistic writings with paper-copy or digital version. Ying holds an MA degree in History of Art and Architecture from Boston University.

With her cross-cultural writing and editing experience, Ying will present an introduction to art writing in China with comparisons to western practices. Through a discussion of major publications, journals, and social platforms, students will learn common art writing patterns in Chinese practices. Attention will also be given to practical concerns, like submitting to a Chinese editor, formatting, and copyright issues.
