Joy Roller

As Development Director of Karamu House, the nation’s oldest African American theater, Joy Roller combines her experience in economic development, social justice, and the arts. Prior to joining Karamu, Joy led Global Cleveland, a non-profit that welcomes newcomers to social and economic opportunities in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.  From 2005 – 2013, Joy served as Executive Director of the Gordon Square Arts District. The arts-based economic development initiative transformed Cleveland’s Detroit Shoreway neighborhood into an arts and entertainment destination. Roller holds a Juris Doctor from Cleveland State University’s John Marshall College of Law, a Masters of Theological Studies from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts in political science and economics from Denison University.
