Celebrating Daniel Ranalli
Please join us as we celebrate Emeritus Associate Professor of Art Administration Daniel Ranalli’s 25 years of dedicated service and achievements as artist, teacher, and mentor at Boston University Metropolitan College.
An outstanding teacher who is recognized in the art world for his talents as an artist, curator, critic, gallery director, and arts administrator, Daniel founded the Arts Administration program in 1993. With the philosophy that “We are committed to making the world safe for art—not making art safe for the world,” Daniel was instrumental in defining arts administration as a field, and he published extensively on artist issues in the 1980s and 1990s. With his broad professional knowledge and personal dedication he provided distinguished leadership to the BU MET program.
As an exceptional teacher, he guided his students toward an understanding of the transformational strength of art, with the mission of preserving its power for society. As a visual artist, his work is in the permanent collections of over two dozen museums here and abroad, including the Museum of Modern Art (NY), the Museum of Fine Arts (Boston), the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the National Gallery of American Art (Smithsonian). He has been included in over 150 solo and group shows in the U.S. and abroad.
In honor of Daniel Ranalli, a reception will be held at the Boston University Castle on Friday, January 29 at 4:00pm. Parking is available by reservation by contacting metacad@bu.edu.
