There is 1 comment on In 20 Years since September 11, Military Suicides Have Risen Sharply. Why?

  1. The author left out that the military lowered their standards for mental health requirements at that time. Personel were given wavers to join even if they were taking multiple medications for their mental illnesses. The idea that if someone wanted to serve, they should not be discriminated against for their treatable illness. Those people may have been functional in their home environment but expose them to deployments, training requirements, long hours, cramped living conditions, no privacy, etc. and it should not be surprising that there has been an increase.
