Archaeology in the News – Email from the Chair

In case you have not seen it, the spring issue of Boston University’s news magazine arts & sciences has two great pieces about activities in our department.  On page 5, “Hands on the Past,” there are pictures of our Jonathan Bethard and Mac Marston making presentations at the Alumni College gathering in the Gabel Museum last October.  The text calls the Gabel “one of BU’s hidden treasures.’ We agree that it is a treasure, and will do all we can to see that it does not remain hidden!  And on page 9 there is a side-bar story about Andrea Berlin’s Levantine Ceramics Project titled “Digital Excavation.”  Good work all, which I am proud we can share with the CAS and BU community.

I was also delighted to find our Clemency Coggins and David Carballo quoted extensively in a lead article in the June 2016 issue of the wide-circulation Smithsonian Magazine in an article about Teotihuacan titled ‘Passage to the Gods.

These are many other interesting news items, and we will continue to post news on our web site and social media and send out these emails from time to time.

Best wishes,

Curtis Runnels,  Chair
