Lawreen Connors, Ph.D., has been promoted to Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is very pleased to announce that Lawreen Connors, Ph.D., has been promoted to Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
Dr. Connors obtained her Ph.D. in biochemistry from Boston University and has risen through the academic ranks through her appointments in Biochemistry and Pathology. She publishes extensively in the field of amyloid pathology describing the basic mechanisms of disease with more than 70 peer-reviewed manuscripts. Her work has appeared in high profile journals such as the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. As befitting her reputation that earned her well-deserved promotion, her science has been substantially supported by extramural funding over the years. Dr. Connors has served as the Secretary for the International Society of Amyloidosis as well as on the editorial board for the journal Amyloid.
Dr. Connors has been an outstanding teacher and mentor to numerous graduate students, including three pathology Ph.D. students who did their thesis work in her laboratory. She continues to be an excellent University citizen serving on the medical school’s admissions committee. In addition to these activities, Dr. Connors is the co-director of the Amyloid Pathology Molecular Testing Laboratory where she is responsible for the CLIA certification for the laboratory.
