2019 House and Senate language on Amyloidosis

August 24, 2018

Last night the Senate passed the fiscal year 2019 Labor HHS bill.  This is the first time the bill has passed the Senate floor in a decade.  This gives more emphasis to language included in the Senate and House reports on Amyloidosis and the hope for completing a House Senate conference and sending it to the President in a timely fashion.

Attached below is the House and Senate language for fiscal year 2019.  Both the House and Senate have “stepped up” their language this year on Amyloidosis.  The House language now requires HHS to include a reporting on steps taken on Amyloidosis in their fiscal year 2020 budget request.

The Senate language calls for increased research efforts on Amyloidosis and directs NIH to inform the Senate Appropriations Committee on on steps taken. (Terry Peel)
