BA/MS in Remote Sensing & Geospatial Sciences

NOTE: In academic year 2020–2021, the Department of Earth & Environment recoded all courses from ES and GE to EE.

The BA/MS program in Remote Sensing & Geospatial Sciences offered through the Department of Earth & Environment combines advanced undergraduate and graduate courses to provide students with a firm grasp of these highly technical fields and opens up exciting career opportunities for students. The program provides qualified juniors and seniors an opportunity to earn a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in one coherent program.

The program is open to students pursing the major in either Earth & Environmental Sciences (EES) or Environmental Analysis & Policy (EAP). The MS is awarded in Remote Sensing & Geospatial Sciences by the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences (GRS).

Students receive the BA and MS degrees simultaneously. Pursuing a second undergraduate major is allowed only by petition to the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences upon application to the BA/MS program. Courses taken for graduate credit must be taken at the 500-level or higher and completed with a grade of B− or above.

Requirements

Students in the Remote Sensing & Geospatial Sciences BA/MS program are required to complete a total of 38 courses (152 credits) while fulfilling all the requirements for both the CAS BA and the GRS MS programs.

  • Students may count two 4-credit courses toward the fulfillment of both degrees.
  • Courses at the 400/600 level that fulfill both BA and MS requirements may count toward both programs, but they must be taken at the 600 level.
