Students preparing to teach in public schools should refer to the College of Arts & Sciences Education section. In addition to the requirements of a College of Arts & Sciences major, students must meet requirements for teacher licensure. To be considered for admission to the student teaching practicum as a part of the teacher licensure sequence, students seeking licensure in secondary education areas (e.g., mathematics, science, history) must achieve a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 in six semester courses in their major discipline. Students in all other licensure programs must have a GPA of 2.5 in professional class sequences required to reach that level. Contact the Undergraduate Student Services office at firstname.lastname@example.org or 617-353-3177 for an appointment to discuss options and to receive an application. Application should be made no later than the beginning of the second semester of the sophomore year.
