Upper Commonwealth Avenue Upper Commonwealth Avenue

"The Upper Commonwealth Avenue Area is comprised of 1019 Commonwealth Avenue and the Student Residence at 10 Buick Street. During fall semester, we welcome students to the Hyatt Regency Cambridge and the Holiday Inn Brookline. Located near the Agganis Arena and the Fitness and Recreation Center, the Student Residence at 10 Buick Street provides apartment-style housing, whereas 1019 Commonwealth Avenue provides suite-style accommodations. Most of the area’s residents are upperclassmen, therefore many of the residents’ needs and interests differ from those of first-year residents. (In particular, the Student Residence at 10 Buick Street is restricted to students with junior or senior standing.) In an effort to respond to the needs of this population, the Residence Hall Associations (RHAs) often sponsors programs that are centered on themes of autonomous living (e.g., cooking classes and personal budgeting workshops) and life after graduation (e.g., seminars on resume and portfolio design). For most of the area’s residents, their time at Upper Commonwealth Avenue is a time of transition, and through the staff’s careful planning (and a little luck!), we can help residents make a successful and, dare I say, fun transition to life beyond BU."
