Late Night Transportation Options On Campus

Out late? Don’t walk back to your residence hall alone. Here are some options for transportation around BU at night.

Boston University Police Department (BUPD)

Call BUPD if you feel unsafe. The number is on the back of your Terrier Card: (617) 353-2121

Emergency Call Boxes

Throughout the Boston University campus, there are many blue emergency call boxes. They have a red button inside that will automatically connect you to the Police Department. Learn more here

BU Shuttle/BU Bus

The BU Shuttle (or the BUS) runs a late night Charles River Campus Service that runs in the early morning hours. The late night schedule and specific stops are available on their website.

Taxis

There are many taxi services around Boston. We don’t endorse one service above any other, but we do recommend that you find one or two and program their numbers into your phone, even if you think you will never need one. It’s always good to be prepared.

There are also several phone applications that you can download to your smartphone that will send a cab to you and allow for you to pay for it via a stored credit card number. Uber and Lyft are two apps that serve the BU campus.

For taxi and ride sharing-specific safety tips, check out, “Staying Safe in a Taxi.”

  1. Dear Sir / Madam
I was wondering if you could tell me whether you have any escort support form BU Dental school to the 650 Columbus ave for late night.

    Sincerely,
    Maryam

  2. Hi Maryam –

    Thank you for the question.

Shuttle service is available until the 11 o’clock hour on the Medical Campus. I would look at the route for that and see if it meets your needs.

Currently, the Charles River Escort Security Service does not extend to the Medical Campus. Let me know if you have any other questions

    Thanks,
    Kat

  3. Lois, The Scarlet Safewalk is available during the fall and spring semesters. Thank you, Danielle Staub
