The Shape of Abstraction will feature both historic modern masters as well as younger newcomers to explore the ways in which artists across the century have used shape to explore the potential of abstract art. The exhibition will include artists such as Josef Albers, Jean Arp, Thomas Nozkowski, Charmion von Wiegand, Louise Bourgeois, Ellsworth Kelly, and Burgoyne Diller, among many others. A wide-range of intellectual and emotional engagements are expressed through both free-form organic masses and hard-edge geometric volumes in diverse media. The Shape of Abstraction will present unexpected, as well as classic juxtapositions of works to offer a small but elegant version of the history of abstract art and its ongoing tradition.
