Part Time Hindi Instructor

Spring 2025 Office Hours: Thursdays 2:00-3:00

Ms. Rubina Nagarkatti has been a part-time faculty member in the Hindi-Urdu program since Spring 2023. She has taught beginner-level classes and co-organized multiple cultural events such as cooking workshops on Indian-style street food, dancing workshops on popular Bollywood dance form and Indian folkdance. She is committed to providing students with opportunities to engage with language and culture outside of the classroom and building a strong Hindi-Urdu student community at BU.

Rubina has taught Hindi at the community level for more than five years and is currently one of the lead instructors at the Hindi Language Academy, an online Hindi learning institute based out of New Jersey. She has received extensive training in language pedagogy through STARTALK-supported teacher training programs, including the Teacher Training Institute organized by New York University, University of Texas at Austin, and Michigan University in summer 2022. These training programs have expanded Rubina’s understanding of second/foreign language acquisition theories and research and helped her develop teaching practices that effectively address diverse learning needs in a variety of instructional settings, including K-12 and college-level.

Rubina is a native Hindi speaker from Mumbai (India) and lives with her family in the Greater Boston area. She is passionate about dance and is a certified Zumba instructor. She aspires to introduce Indian culture through folk and contemporary dance forms to a larger audience in the United States.
