Ingrid Ristroph
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Ingrid Ristroph is a postdoctoral research associate at Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. Her research focuses on supporting teachers in cultivating engaging mathematics classrooms that center student thinking. She works with Meghan Shaughnessy (PI) on the MPACT project and Julie Cohen (PI) of University of Virginia on the SimSE project; both projects concern the training of novice teachers in mathematics.
As a doctoral student in STEM education at the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Ristroph worked on a series of early algebra projects identifying effective teaching practices with Dr. Eric Knuth (PI). Her dissertation focuses on teachers’ ways of introducing mathematical conventions and how these introductions might be intentionally considered to better support students’ identities as mathematics learners, with a special focus on students from underrepresented groups in STEM. Previously, she worked at The Charles A. Dana Center, where she developed secondary mathematics courses and led professional development for in-service teachers with several large urban school districts.
