In Memoriam: Florence Rossman
Dr. Florence Rossman, a dedicated educator and longtime member of the Wheelock College faculty, passed away on July 22, 2025, in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. Rossman dedicated her life to education and the pursuit of knowledge. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in childhood education from St. Cloud State University before joining the faculty at Wheelock College, where she taught for 29 years, and served as the director of the Teaching of Reading program. In 1980, she completed a doctorate in education at Boston University. She also held a law degree from New England Law School.
Dr. Rossman’s career was defined by her passion for teaching, global perspective, and belief in the power of education to transform lives. She shared her love of art, culture, and learning with students and colleagues alike, inspiring those around her with her intellect, curiosity, and resilience. She will be remembered for her strength, generosity, and unwavering commitment to her students and to the ideals of education.
