Through the World Language Education program at Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development, aspiring and advancing educators can develop their skills as teachers of modern languages. Students receive a strong foundation in second-language acquisition, linguistics, and world language methods that emphasize proficiency and communication. And they learn how to foster a language-learning environment that is multicultural, multilingual, antiracist, and gender-inclusive.

The World Language Education program offers flexibility for aspiring and advancing educators, including options to pursue licensure (Arabic, Chinese, French, and Spanish), take courses online, or complete your degree full- or part-time. The program is committed to teaching for social justice and disrupting inequality based in white supremacy, anti-Blackness, cis-heteronormative patriarchy, ableism, and dominant English monolingualism.

Boston University’s World Language Education program offers both a Master of Education (EdM) and a graduate certificate.
