CAS ’23

- Title CAS ’23
Major / Minor: Neurohistory and Film and TV
Area of Research: Fiction
Name of Mentor: Sophie Klein
How did you get involved in research?
For the Stacey project, I was doing it before UROP and then decided to apply because I was running out of printer money!
How did you meet your mentor?
I met my mentor through class, I took one of her classes freshman year.
What has your UROP experience taught you?
It has taught me that the project will turn out however it wants to turn out, there’s no need to be overly stressed about it. Life turns out the way it turns out! Is that dumb to say?
How has this experience helped you with non-research related things at BU?
Above all this experience has helped me with socialising, I sometimes present my poster to other people waiting for the bus!
What does a day in your research life look like?
Watch the video I made here: https://www.youtube.com/
What advice would you give to someone interested in UROP?
I think my best advice would be to go for it, apply! No matter how silly the idea, it’ll be fun! Go with your gut! Do a project on gut health! I’ve always wondered what would happen to a person if they just ate artichokes, someone investigate that. I would also be interested in a project investigating what people think about when they go on walks. It was a rollercoaster, a journey, a wild ride! A game of telephone, a series of missed connections, a game of tetris! It was everything I thought about for a while, and then it was over, and I missed it dearly.
