David’s research seeks to ground theories and philosophies on early music in performances. His dissertation “Wanda, Gould, and Sting: Sounding, Othering, and Hearing Early Music” reframes the movement as a sonically constructed and heard Other Performance ultimately authenticated by the listener. In his teaching and research, David explores intersections between performance and musicology regarding the intertwined perceptions of past, present, and future music-making.
