• All Unit and Department call answering service points must be attended by personnel during business hours.Voice mail may not be implemented during business hours in these areas without the prior approval of the Executive Vice President or Provost. The personal telephone lines of faculty and staff are not considered call answering service points and are candidates for voice mail.
  • Voice mail must never be used in such a fashion that access to emergency services is disabled or impaired.
  • Callers routed to voice mail must always have access to alternative call coverage or attendant by dialing “0”. Call coverage or attendant positions must not, in turn, be covered by voice mail during business hours.
  • Recorded greetings should be professional and courteous.
  • Voice mail must be implemented in consultation with the Office of Telecommunications to insure that institutional policy and quality standards are met.
