Welcome to BU and thank you for checking out BU Sustainability’s resources. We know these are trying times, as we all cope with the impacts of COVID-19 around the world, but we want you to know that we are happy you are joining our community and are excited to connect with you.
Our team is a group of committed professional and student staff who are charged with leading the University to a more sustainable future and integrating sustainability into the culture and structure of Boston University. Through our work implementing the Climate Action Plan (CAP), the University is able to reduce its use of natural resources and improve environmental and social impacts. To learn about how we’re doing on our goals, you can view our 2019 Sustainability Annual Report.
To us, sustainability is all about making a positive impact in the world. Everything you do has an impact—on our University footprint and on people you’ll encounter in your journey here. Keeping that in mind will help guide your actions AND your experiences. Seemingly ordinary actions can have a huge impact when combined with your peers. There are so many ways for you to live with meaning when you arrive at BU as a #NewTerrier and sustainability is one of those. We hope you are excited to join us in our mission to make BU the most sustainable place it can be. We look forward to meeting you!

Get Involved
BU students are making this place better every day. Be a student sustainability leader. Explore one of the many clubs, or the community at Earth House in South Campus. Create your own project and ask us for guidance.
Move In @ BU
From what to bring to how to set up your room, what should you expect when you move in? (Hey, parents & families! Our tap water is among the best in the country, so leave the cases of water at the store and opt for a refillable pitcher as a more practical graduation gift.)
Recycling In Your Dorm
It’s the basics, really. Find out about what you can recycle and where you can do it in your dorm and around campus.

Our app is the easiest way to make your everyday habits more sustainable, wherever you are. Discover how you and your friends can use resources—without using them up. Connect with and follow friends, earn achievements, and participate in contests by downloading the app in the Google Play or Apple Stores.
Report Issues
If you see an issue such as a leaky faucet, you can help the University reduce its environmental impact by reporting the issue.
