I am excited to share with you our 2025 Annual Report. The past year was a year of collaboration and one where our university has made a deeper commitment to the values that have always defined us.

Warren Towers, Boston University’s largest residence hall, is undergoing a large-scale renovation that will transform the mid-1960s complex into a fully electrified, net zero building. This renovation is fully integrated with the University’s capital asset renewal program and marks a major milestone in our efforts to move toward a fossil fuel-free future.

Boston University is taking critical steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions with the goal of net zero direct emissions by 2040. This past year, the University embarked on efforts to decarbonize its campus heating and cooling infrastructure.

Boston University is identifying ways to reduce its emissions from what we build and what we throw away. These efforts and more are part of the University’s Zero Waste Plan.

The foundation of Boston University is pioneering academics and research. Across the University, BU faculty, staff and students are engaging with sustainability in research and in the classroom.

Boston University's climate action and sustainability leadership could not exist without the strength of its partnerships. By partnering with athletics, the arts, operations, staff and faculty liaisons, student organizations, and many others, BU Sustainability continues to work collaboratively to engage our community in meaningful action.

Boston University continues to be an institution that brings the community together for meaningful climate-action events and experiences. In 2025, we welcomed partners from around the region for meaningful discussions at events run by our team.
