DPD/MS/DI Prior Learning Policy
Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD)
DPD Science Courses
Students who have successfully completed coursework in Introductory Psychology and/or Exercise Physiology with a minimum grade of C may request an evaluation for potential fulfillment of equivalent Boston University DPD science requirements. Please complete the Equivalency Evaluation Request Form.
DPD Professional Courses
Students who have successfully completed any of the following DPD professional courses at an accredited institution with a minimum grade of B- may request evaluation for potential fulfillment of equivalent Boston University DPD requirements (up to a maximum of two 4-credit courses):
- Human Nutrition Science
- Nutrition Throughout the Lifecycle
- Food Science

Master of Science in Nutrition (MS)
Students who have successfully completed the following graduate-level courses at an accredited institution with a minimum grade of B (3.0) may request evaluation for potential fulfillment of equivalent Boston University MS in Nutrition requirements:
- Biostatistics
- Nutritional Epidemiology
- Nutrition Elective
Important notes:
- Students may transfer a maximum of 8 credits from other institutions towards their Master of Science in Nutrition degree requirements.
- Students must submit a petition supported by a syllabus and official transcript to the program director for evaluation.
- A minimum of 25 credit hours must be completed at Boston University.
- Courses previously applied toward the completion of another academic degree are not eligible to fulfill MS in Nutrition graduation requirements.
Dietetic Internship (DI)
Prior experiential learning (e.g., internships, practica, etc.) will not be evaluated for use toward academic credit hours for the DPD/MS/DI program.
