Joshua Folkerts is a Fulbright Scholar and Ph.D. student at Universität Rostock in Rostock, Germany. He is a political scientist with a focus on political theory and the history of ideas. His research interests include the classics of political theory, political myths, welfare state theory, interpretative power analysis, and the political theory of G.W.F. Hegel.
Joshua published on topics such as the discoursive history of Rawls’ theory of justice, the role of political myth in the English Civil Wars, the intellectual history of interpretative power, the Hegelian forefathers of the German welfare state, political extremism, and how belief systems may help us to analyze conflicts.
Currently, Joshua is working on a thesis about Hegel’s contribution to the intellectual history and political theory of the welfare state.
