Bernard Elevitch, former Boston University Professor, died on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, at the age of 81.  Professor Elevitch  was born in Duluth, Minnesota. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Romance languages and his Master’s in Philosophy from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.  His Ph.D in Philosophy was awarded by Columbia University in 1961. He joined the Boston University Philosophy Department in 1968, specializing in Modern Philosophy, Ethics and philosophy of Mind and serving as Associate Chairman from 1990 until his retirement as professor Emeritus in 1995.
