Lauren Batchelder

Biography

Lauren Batchelder is a public interest attorney and advocate based in Los Angeles, California. Her work focuses on the intersection of law, public policy, and social impact. At Boston University School of Law, she assists the Academic Enrichment and Bar Support Program. She advises students through individual meetings and workshops on academic success strategies, bar application and preparation planning, and resources that support the transition from law school to bar licensure across multiple jurisdictions, including the evolving NextGen bar exam.

Lauren earned her Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law in 2025 as a Public Interest Scholarship recipient. She is admitted to the Massachusetts bar.

While at BU, she served as a Legal Assistant and Fellow with the United Nations International Law Commission in Geneva, Switzerland. She also interned with the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute, supporting advocacy that advanced tuition equity legislation for undocumented students before the Massachusetts State House. In addition, she conducted research under Professor Caitlin Glass at the Boston University Center for Antiracist Research.

Prior to law school, Lauren became one of the youngest lobbyists at the New Hampshire State House, where she worked for the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence on policies addressing gender-based violence. In 2016, the Obama administration named her a White House Changemaker for her undergraduate activism on gender equity, and she attended the inaugural United State of Women Summit in Washington, D.C.

Lauren also has a background in policy communications, having served as a speechwriter and ghostwriter for public interest and international legal initiatives. Her advocacy has been featured in publications including Marie Claire and The Washington Post. Outside the office, she trains with The Groundlings and spends time with her rescue dog, Darcy.
